BEARD TRANSPLANT (DIRECT FUE technique)
Hair loss cannot only happen on the scalp but on the face as well, either on the area of the beard or eyebrows. Facial hair growth, or lack thereof, and patchiness may be a result of either scarring or genetics. If you have sparse facial hair, patchiness or any facial scars, a beard transplant, also known as a facial hair transplant, may be the solution for you.
Facial Hair Transplants – in this case Beard Restoration specifically – saw a significant increase around the world over the past year. According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, (ISHRS) announced in June 2020 that beard and moustache remain popular areas for hair transplants.
The process
- Our doctors make the design on the beard, which suits perfectly on the patient’s face. During the procedure the Surgeon locates the ‘stable zone area’ at the side or back of the head. This is used as the donor area for the beard, moustache or sideburns.
- Finer hair is typically needed for a Beard Transplant where the donor area is located at the sides of the head. If the patient is balding, or is completely bald, it is also possible to use body hair (such as from the chest) for the donor area.
- The extracted follicles are being placed one by one on the beard with our CHOI implanter pens, the tool that leads to a perfect depth, angle and direction of the implanted grafts for a 100% natural and lifetime result.
- The procedure can take between three and nine hours – depending on the area treated and amount of hair required. For example, a goatee may require up to 1,500 hairs, while a full beard may need up to 4,000 hairs.
FAQs
The tool used to extract hair follicles from the donor areais less than 1mm in diameter. Scarring is often down to the skills of surgeons – our doctors are amongst the top in their field of hair transplantation, with international recognition, and they have spent years establishing methods to avoid visible scarring. There will be no visible scarring on the beard, moustache or sideburn area.
You may experience a degree of redness in the treated area but this will subside within a few days. Hair transplanted for the head may require extra care and attention. Our team will be available to guide you through the aftercare procedure should you have any further questions at any point, as part of our aftercare commitment.
The cost of Beard and Facial Hair Transplants – beard, goatee, sideburns, etc. entirely depends on the extent of patchiness or hair loss you are experiencing and the average price can range depending on the number of hairs required to cover the area. We offer FREE consultations with our experienced Hair Transplant Patient Advisors and Doctors as well.
There is little to no downtime with the Direct FUE Beard Transplant Procedure, as only a local anesthetic is used. After the procedure, patients are able to leave the clinic immediately and continue with their normal routine.
